The Review
Aion is by far the most beautiful and customizable game I have ever seen. It is absolutely breath taking. Your only limit is your own imagination. The character creation in this game is a hundred years ahead of the competition. You may want to just create a character right away and jump into the action but if you spend a little time on it you can create something special. I have seen dozens of celebrity look-a-likes. A few friends of mine have created exact copies of themselves because they thought that it would make the game more immersive.
When Aion launched their were gold spammers and bots everywhere you looked. If you were able to get passed all of that then you were faced with a daunting grind after level 20. All of these things sent all of Aion’s player base scurrying back to World of Warcraft. That combined with NCSOFT banning thousands of accounts seriously thinned out the server populations
This is not that Aion. This is Aion 2.5 (soon to be Aion 2.6) and it is completely different. Interest in Warcraft is waning and a lot of those that left Aion unhappy a year ago are giving it another shot.
Let’s start with the character creation process.
You will need to select a faction Asmodians or Elyos. Then you will select a gender and class and then begin designing your characters appearance. You can control the height, weight, hair color, and everything else that you can imagine. There are tons of sliders so that you can get every detail of your character exactly the way you want it.
The gameplay is smooth. The questing is addictive. When you get into a guild and start playing with other people you will be hooked.
If you are familiar with Warcraft then you probably noticed how most players look alike at max level. There is only one set of top tier gear for each class and there is no way to customize it. In Aion you can dye your gear, so even if two players are wearing the same thing they don’t have to look like it. Do you remember how cool it was in Warcraft when you got your first flying mount?
In Aion you get wings.
Do yourself a favor. Play the 10 day demo. It will allow to get up to level 20 so you will get a real good feel for the game without having to risk any of your hard earned cash.
